Joseph Pilates recommended a few, precise movements
emphasizing control and form to aid injured soldiers in regaining
their health by strengthening, stretching,and stabilizing key
muscles. He created "The Pilates Principles" to condition the entire
body: proper alignment, centering, concentration, control,
precision, breathing, and flowing movement.

The benefits of pilates have been enjoyed by elite actors, dancers
and athletes since the early 1920's. They found that his exercises
perfected and complemented their traditional programmes and
catered for their individual needs- building strength without adding
bulk, balancing that strength with flexibility and achieving the
perfect harmony between mind and body.

ABOUT PILATES
Pilates is a method of exercise and physical
movement designed to stretch, strengthen, and
balance the body. It was developed by Joseph
Pilates in the early 1900s as an exercise
rehabilitation programme for First World War
veterans. He believed mental and physical
health were essential to one another.
