Maria Moreno Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Madrid, Spain) Maria is a Physiotherapist and a Pilates Instructor. She attended the Baylor University Medical Center (Dallas, USA) in 2004 and graduated from the University of Alcala de Henares Physiotherapy School (Madrid) in 2005. She has been a physiotherapist practitioner in Spain and USA, and has specialized in Pilates Rehabilitation -both Equipment and Matwork. Maria has a keen interest in pilates as rehabilitation for sports and back injuries. She has a background in Rhythm Gymnastics, therefore her interest in posture analysis and refinement of movement for professional dancers, athletes and rehabilitating clientele. She is a dedicated professional and focus specially in the reeducation of muscles to allow maximum strength and flexibility with the least amount of unnecessary tension. In all of her classes she develops a thorough programme to build and condition a well-balanced body. Emma Hird Bachelor of Science (Hons) Physiotherapy Emma is a physiotherapist and pilates teacher. She graduated from the Manchester School of Physiotherapy in 2002 and has worked in the NHS and private sector. In 2005 she specialised in occupational health combing work place assessments with clinical treatment in the management of muscoloskeletal disorders.Emma has a special interest in postural and movement dysfunction and is a keen advocate of Pilates to improve posture, alleviate aches and pains and enhance daily and sports performance. She has trained extensively with the Polestar Pilates approach since 2005, providing one-one Pilates tuition and group exercise classes to rehabilitating individuals and the general public. Emma is a keen runner and regularly participates in Pilates exercise to maintain performance and fitness. Scott Mitchell Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Brisbane, Australia) MCSP SRP An Australian trained physiotherapist with wide experience in managing musculosketal conditions with special interest in manual therapy, biomechanical analysis, stability training and medical acupuncture. Scott has also undergone further training in sports physiotherapy gaining an Australian Physiotherapy Association Sports Physiotherapy certificate and has been involved with local, national and international sport including Hockey, Track and Field, Australian Rules Football and Rowing. Since arriving in the UK in 2003, Scott has been involved professionally with International Rugby League Tri-nations Tournament, Tongan Rugby Union English Tour and was previously team physiotherapist for Harlequins RL Senior Academy. Scott aims to use his past experiences to provide his patients with optimal treatment and a comprehensive approach to total health care. Scott is a qualified Pilates instructor having trained in London with the Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute (APPI). His teaching experience includes one-one and group pre and post natal pilates classes. Mary Jane Boswell Bachelor of Science (Hons) Physiotherapy (London, United Kingdom) MJ qualified with a BSc in Physiotherapy from St George’s University of London and has worked throughout varied NHS settings. Her interest in musculoskeletal specialisation led her to work at Kingston Hospital musculoskeletal outpatients department, as well as Queen Mary’s Hospital in the Brysson Whyte Rehabilitation unit. By teaching anatomy part-time to Physiotherapy and Medical students at St George’s University she enjoys applying her own knowledge and understanding of anatomy in a practical setting. Massage therapy and the use of soft tissue manipulation as an effective treatment for many common injuries and impairments is an area of particular interest to MJ. She has carried out further training and progressed her skills with the Academy of Sports Massage and Bodywork and the London College of Shiatsu and incorporates a wide repertoire of sports massage techniques as well as holistic massage during her manual work. Since training in Clinical Pilates with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute, MJ has taught individualised programmes and group classes incorporating an extensive repertoire of pilates exercises for a variety of clients. Her own passion for exercise has helped to motivate others to make positive health and lifestyle changes, and she enjoys seeing clients progress through pilates practice. Classes are especially suitable for those recovering from an injury or surgery or those focusing on injury prevention. Her unique combination of physiotherapy and pilates allow a high attention to detail and individual correction during classes ensuring effective practice. |
